Abstract

In this research, the production methods of biodiesel and biogas, which are one of the types of renewable fuels, have been examined. In this report, fossil and renewable fuels are first introduced, and then more information is provided about biofuels. In chapter 2, recent researches related to biodiesel production methods and process simulation of these fuels have been examined and summarized. In chapter 3, one of these processes has been re-simulated by ASPEN HYSYS software, and a series of process factors such as temperature, pressure and current intensity have been investigated and presented as case studies. The result of this case study shows: 1-If the reactor temperature changes from 75℃ to 30℃, the mole fraction changes from 0.2263 to 0.2275, which is equivalent to 0.57%. 2-If the mass flow of glycerin changes from 20 kg/h to 200 kg/h, the mole fraction changes from 0.2625 to 0.2650, which is equivalent to 0.95%. 3-If the flow temperature changes from 5℃ to 100℃, the mole fraction changes from 0.2585 to 0.2700, which is equivalent to 4.44%. 4-If the inlet stream temperature changes from 20℃ to 150℃, the mole fraction changes from 0.9994 to 0.9997, which is equivalent to 0.03%.
