Abstract
Today, the importance of healthy eating has received more attention because the fetus gets all the nutrients it needs from the mother and if it is not enough, irreparable risks threaten both mother and baby. On the other hand, recent research suggests that a vegetarian diet can treat many diseases. Accordingly, the present study via analysis of the results of the questionnaire before and after educating with vegetarian and normal diet to investigate the role of education in increasing the quality of nutrition in pregnant women living on Kish Island. This study was conducted in the summer and autumn of 2021 on Kish Island to improve the quality of nutrition in pregnant women and women who were planning to become pregnant. In this study, before and after methods were used to measure the effectiveness of the course. 38 women aged 25 to 42 years participated in this study. After being informed about their nutritional status by the online questionnaire, online nutrition courses were held for them and the necessary information was sent to them for two months and the quality of their nutrition was re-evaluated through a questionnaire. After classes and trainings, the weekly consumption improved to chicken and meat 21.1%, the daily consumption of fruits and vegetables 22%, the weekly consumption of fish 18.8%, the daily consumption of dairy products19.6%, and the daily consumption of carbohydrates 12.2%. They also found a reduction in sugar consumption to 12.8%. The study shows that creating awareness in people through education and reminders and providing a program based on fetal growth and the needs of the mother's body can improve the quality of women's diet.
