Abstract
Today, in most parts of the world, especially in the Middle East, we face a severe shortage of fresh water, which is one of the primary human needs. Since freshwater resources are limited, desalinating water, such as brackish water and seawater, is more necessary than ever. In this article, we will review three types of water desalination methods. However, the remarkable thing about these methods is their electricity supply, which consumes much energy. Therefore, in this article, we discuss the feasibility and evaluation of the water treatment plant's electric energy supply by renewable energies (solar and wind) in two geographical regions of Iran. We carry out the necessary investigations from an economic and environmental point of view.
